Bipolar Disorder Anxiety
Bipolar disorder itself is not any easy illness to deal with, but bipolar disorder, anxiety and panic attacks or other mental problems combined can be disasterous. Sometimes it takes years to get an accurate bipolar disorder diagnosis, and when bipolar is coupled with other brain problems, it’s doubly hard to get treatment.
If have bipolar disorder, anxiety or panic attacks, you need to make sure that your doctor is aware of your anxiety symptoms. The anxiety may be a side effect of bipolar medication that you are taking. Or perhaps you have been dealing with anxiety all along. Either way, you will need to be treated for both illnesses.
There are bipolar medications out there that can help you with both your bipolar disorder and your anxiety problems. Keeping a mood journal is the key to helping your doctor give you the proper treatments. Each day, you should chart your moods in these categories:
- energetic
- depressed
- happy
- sad
- full of joy
- productive
- sleepy
- sleepless
- restless
- anxious
- worrysome
- listless
Keeping track of your depression and mania cycles, along with your anxiety problems will be a great help to your doctor when trying to find the right medications and treatments for your bipolar disorder, anxiety and panic attacks.
Be sure to let close loved ones know about your disorders. That way, if you have an anxiety attack while they are around, they will know exactly what to do to help you. Talk to your doctor and let you family know what the most helpful things to do for you are in that situation.
By keeping track of your moods, letting your friends and family help you and working closely with your doctor, you can stay ahead of the game and overcome your bipolar disorder and anxiety problems.
