Finding Bipolar Chat Services
When you have bipolar disorder, it’s essential that you have the opportunity to communicate with others who suffer from the same disorder. There are many online bipolar chat rooms that you can visit and talk to other people who are going through the same things that you are. When you need some comfort and understanding, you might want to visit one of these bipolar chat rooms.
Bipolar World: Bipolar World now has two peer to peer chat rooms open for your usage. The support chat is available 24 hours per day with moderated chats every evening from 8 pm – 11 pm EST, with additional hours when operators are available. As its name suggests, support chat is a room for discussion of bipolar disorder and sharing the empathy and support that only one bipolar can feel for another. Your chat nick must be registered in order to enter this room. For help in registering see the “commands” section on the chat guide page and you may use the lounge to register it.
Bipolar.About.com : This is a chat room for those with bipolar disorder. Their purpose is supporting others as they cope with manic depression.
Hosts are there to carry through that mission in any way they can. But we are not doctors, therapists, crisis intervention workers, researchers, government lobbyists, charitable foundations, educators or system administrators. We cannot change the software, the medicine, the Internet, or your condition.
The Icarus Project: The Icarus Project is by far my favorite. From their website -
So many of us feel uprooted. So many of the people we meet who’ve been labeled with mental illness or who call themselves crazy are the ones who are always looking for more or don’t fit anywhere: the ones who feel rootless, displaced, unheard; the ones who wander and search and chafe; the ones who drop out of college and try to make music, or ride freight trains, or lay in bed watching clouds; the ones who hear messages no one else hears or see connections no one else can believe; the ones who are haunted by restlessness and desire, conviction and doubt; the ones who can’t overlook the emptiness of modern life or find niches for themselves within it…
There is nothing that gnaws like loneliness. Finding real community and contributing to it is a huge part of real, sustainable mental health. You are not alone
You may end up meeting Icarus Project members in your town or you might end up getting advice from compassionate people typing on computers halfway around the world. If you’re lucky, you’ll find both.
Keep looking and keep searching and you will find others like you for bipolar chat. Statistics say that 1 out of 100 people have bipolar disorder. Look around you.
